
Middle East consultations between Türkiye and Russia, held at the deputy foreign minister level, took place in Istanbul, with discussions centered on regional security matters, particularly the situations in Syria and Palestine.
According to information from the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Deputy Minister Nuh Yılmaz and his Russian counterpart, Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov, engaged in extensive exchanges of views on a range of regional issues.
During the meetings, Deputy Minister Yılmaz emphasized that Türkiye’s primary objective regarding Syria is the preservation of the country’s territorial integrity and unity as a basis for establishing lasting stability and security. He stressed that developments in Syria are closely monitored from the perspective of safeguarding Türkiye’s national security.
Yılmaz further noted that lifting sanctions on Syria would be the most effective and impactful means of providing political and financial support to the Syrian administration.
Israeli Attacks on Syria Also Addressed
Additionally, Türkiye reiterated its stance calling for an immediate end to Israel’s attacks on Syria and its ongoing atrocities in Gaza.
The consultations also covered the broader security landscape in the Middle East and explored prospects for achieving regional stability.
It was underlined that the interconnected nature of conflicts and developments across the region necessitates a comprehensive approach and coordinated efforts by all relevant actors to establish lasting peace and security in the Middle East.
