Turkey’s advanced jet trainer project, HÜRJET, has successfully reached a critical milestone in its certification journey, receiving both the Design Organization Approval (DOA) and Production Organization Approval (POA), the Presidency of Defense Industries (SSB) announced.

Haluk Görgün, head of SSB, highlighted the achievement in a statement on social media, calling HÜRJET “the original child of the skies” and emphasizing that the certifications mark a strategic step toward aligning Turkey’s national aviation vision with international standards.

“These approvals are not just technical accomplishments—they represent a historic stride toward independent skies,” Görgün said. “The jet trainer of the future will carry the mark of our national engineering on tomorrow’s battlefields. With the dedication of our engineers, the collaboration of our institutions, and the support of our people, we continue to work resolutely for a fully independent future in our airspace.”

The DOA, issued by the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), certifies that a company possesses the necessary engineering infrastructure, quality management systems, and procedural capabilities to design aircraft and aircraft components in compliance with international standards. The POA complements this by certifying that the company can manufacture the designed components or aircraft while adhering to strict safety and quality standards.

The certifications mark a major step forward for Turkish Aerospace Industries (TUSAŞ) and reinforce Turkey’s growing role in the global aviation sector.
