**Recent developments indicate a significant shift in regional dynamics as Syria has formally sought assistance from Turkey.** According to sources within the Ministry of National Defense (MND), this request underscores the current complexities surrounding the ongoing conflicts in Syria and aligns with Turkey’s commitment to foster stability in the region. During a press briefing, Rear Admiral Zeki Aktürk, the Press and Public Relations Advisor of the MND, addressed the media and highlighted Turkey’s ongoing commitment to Syria’s territorial integrity amidst escalating tensions.

In response to specific inquiries about the violent confrontations in Suveyda and the recent Israeli airstrikes targeting Damascus, Admiral Aktürk noted that there has been a marked increase in attacks from Israeli forces. These actions have exacerbated the existing tensions between the local Druze community and the Syrian government, particularly in southern Suweida. He emphasized that Turkey is dedicated to safeguarding Syria’s political unity and territorial integrity. The MND is, therefore, deepening cooperative efforts with the new Syrian administration to enhance its defense capabilities.

Admiral Aktürk also detailed the nature of Turkey’s support following Syria’s official request. He stated that Turkey aims to provide comprehensive assistance, focusing primarily on training, consultancy, and technical support in order to bolster Syria’s defense capacity, particularly against terrorist organizations like DAESH. This proactive engagement signifies Turkey’s strategic intention to play a critical role in stabilizing the region and combating terrorism.

The core objective of Turkey’s involvement is to facilitate lasting peace and political unity within Syria. By reinforcing the Syrian government’s capacity to address security threats, Turkey is not only supporting its neighbor but also strengthening its own national security interests in an increasingly volatile region. This collaborative approach is expected to lay a groundwork for a more stable future between Turkey and Syria.
