ANKARA — Turkey has officially become the country with the fourth-largest offshore energy fleet in the world, following the addition of two new drilling vessels to its maritime energy inventory.

The announcement came from Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar, who shared the development on his social media account along with a visually striking video highlighting the fleet. Created using advanced AI technology, the video depicts Turkey’s energy vessels transformed into powerful robot figures bearing the Turkish flag on their shoulders and saluting — symbolizing the nation’s commitment to energy independence.

With the inclusion of two newly acquired drilling ships, Turkey’s offshore fleet now comprises six vessels. These include four deep-sea drilling ships — Fatih, Yavuz, Kanuni, and Abdülhamid Han — as well as two seismic research vessels, Oruç Reis and Barbaros Hayrettin Paşa.

“This is more than just a fleet,” Minister Bayraktar stated in his post. “It reflects the strong will, under the leadership of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, that reaches from the depths of our seas to the future of our nation.”

Bayraktar also emphasized that the fleet expansion is a strategic move aimed at achieving full energy independence, a long-term national goal. “Our Energy Heroes are on duty, with a clear route ahead: total independence in energy,” he declared.

The expansion marks a significant milestone in Turkey’s ongoing efforts to explore and utilize its own offshore energy resources, particularly in the Eastern Mediterranean and Black Sea regions.
