The next generation of tactical drone warfare: BOYGA-B offers multi-munition capabilities while TUNGA brings precision to anti-personnel missions.
STM, one of Turkey’s leading defense technology companies, showcased two of its newest innovations at the 17th International Defence Industry Fair (IDEF 2025): the BOYGA-B, a rotary-wing unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) capable of deploying multiple types of munitions, and the TUNGA Smart Munition System, an advanced guided glide munition developed for anti-personnel missions.
According to a statement from STM, the two systems were unveiled for the first time at IDEF, highlighting the company’s commitment to advancing its tactical UAV family in line with evolving battlefield requirements.
BOYGA-B: Precision Multi-Munition UAV

Designed for reconnaissance, surveillance, target acquisition, and precision strike missions, the BOYGA-B is the upgraded version of the previously fielded BOYGA UAV. It can carry up to 8 kilograms of mixed munitions, including two 81 mm mortar rounds as well as smart munitions such as TUNGA.
A key highlight of the BOYGA-B is its ability to operate in GNSS-denied or jammed environments, making it highly suitable for contested operational theaters. Equipped with an advanced release mechanism, it delivers munitions with high accuracy onto designated targets.
TUNGA: Glide Munition with Image-Based Targeting

Paired with the BOYGA-B is TUNGA, a modular smart munition designed for anti-personnel operations. TUNGA stands out with its EO/thermal imaging sensors, image processing algorithms, and proximity fuze detonation capability, offering effective target engagement in a variety of battlefield scenarios.
Weighing approximately 1.75 kg, TUNGA is guided either via GNSS-based navigation or vision-based targeting, providing flexibility in missions with denied access to satellite signals. It also features self-destruct mechanisms, ensuring operational safety and preventing unauthorized use if not deployed.
TUNGA can be launched from the BOYGA-B UAV but is also platform-agnostic and can be integrated into other aerial systems.
“Innovative and National Solutions”
Speaking at IDEF 2025, STM General Manager Özgür Güleryüz emphasized the success of STM’s tactical UAV family on the battlefield and in export markets.
“BOYGA-B, with its ability to carry and deploy different types of munitions from a single platform, will be an effective solution against various threats in the field,” Güleryüz said. “Meanwhile, TUNGA’s image-processing capability allows for pinpoint strikes from UAVs. Both systems have successfully completed field testing and are ready for deployment.”
Güleryüz added that STM will continue to deliver innovative and nationally developed solutions to meet the needs of both the Turkish Armed Forces and allied nations.
