Roketsan has officially unveiled the latest iteration of Turkey’s longest-range indigenous ballistic missile, the TAYFUN BLOCK-4, at the IDEF 2025 International Defense Industry Fair. Marking a significant milestone in Turkey’s strategic defense capabilities, the system is notable for its hypersonic speed and precision strike capacity against high-value targets.
According to Roketsan, the TAYFUN BLOCK-4 is equipped with a multi-purpose warhead designed to engage and neutralize strategic military assets such as command and control centers, air defense systems, military hangars, and other critical installations. With a launch weight exceeding seven tons, the missile demonstrates significant destructive capability and range.
One of the standout features of the BLOCK-4 version is its ability to reach hypersonic speeds, enabling it to evade current air defense systems. Coupled with advanced guidance technology, the missile delivers high-precision strikes while minimizing collateral damage. Its resilience to electronic warfare, including GNSS jamming, and its operational capability in all weather conditions, day and night, underscore its role as a next-generation deterrent system.

Test launches are ongoing, with the most recent trial taking place in February 2025. In this third test, conducted from Rize-Artvin Airport, the missile reportedly struck a designated target at sea with high accuracy.
General Selçuk Bayraktaroğlu, Commander of the Turkish Land Forces, commented on the system’s strategic significance:
“This marks our first operational engagement with a ballistic missile system. As this technology evolves, with extended range and increased velocity, we believe it will become one of the most critical deterrence assets in the global defense landscape.”
Roketsan CEO Murat İkinci emphasized the broader implications for Turkey’s defense sector:
“As stated by our President, we are entering a period of major developments in both air defense and ballistic missile capabilities. Roketsan will continue to lead the way through groundbreaking R&D, delivering cutting-edge technologies for our nation and for allied and friendly countries.”
The unveiling of TAYFUN BLOCK-4 signals Turkey’s firm commitment to enhancing its indigenous defense technologies, while reinforcing its strategic autonomy and deterrence posture in an increasingly contested global environment.
