National Naval Gun DENİZHAN Delivered for TCG İZMİR

**The production of Turkey’s third National Naval Gun DENİZHAN has been successfully completed, marking a significant milestone in domestic defense capabilities. This naval gun has now been delivered to Anadolu Shipyard for integration with the TCG İZMİR. Developed by the Istanbul Shipyard Command in collaboration with the Machinery and Chemical Industry Corporation, the DENİZHAN gun is part of a series aimed at enhancing the Turkish Navy’s operational efficiency.**

Last year, the first 76/62 mm National Naval Gun was mounted on the TCG AKHİSAR (P1220), preparing it for rigorous harbor and sea tests. Notably, this weapon system was previously integrated into the TCG BEYKOZ corvette, showcasing its versatility. The DENİZHAN is specifically designed for air defense, surface warfare, and land bombardment, solidifying its role as a critical asset in naval operations.

The introduction of the National Naval Gun DENİZHAN is not just a technical achievement; it also signifies a shift towards utilizing national resources in defense production. This gun replaces the Italian-made OTO Melara 76 mm gun, thereby enhancing Turkey’s self-sufficiency in military hardware. The localization efforts led by Machinery and Chemical Industry Inc. have paved the way for this indigenous solution, demonstrating a commitment to advancing Turkey’s defense industry.

The DENİZHAN National Naval Gun boasts impressive specifications, designed to operate effectively across various naval scenarios. Capable of firing 80 rounds per minute, the gun has a range of 16 km with standard ammunition, extending to 20 km with advanced projectile types. Its ability to support air defense operations enhances its value, especially given its successful integration into multiple naval platforms including TCG BEYKOZ and TCG AKHİSAR.

Collaboration among Turkish defense firms, including MKE, TAIS Shipyards, and STM, has been instrumental in the development of the DENİZHAN. This partnership underscores the importance of collective efforts in advancing national defense technologies. As the TCG İZMİR prepares to incorporate this cutting-edge weapon system, it marks a new chapter for the Turkish Navy, poised for enhanced operational capabilities.
