Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan delivered key remarks during the informal summit of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), held in Budapest, Hungary. Expressing his satisfaction with the summit being hosted for the first time by an observer member, Fidan emphasized the Turkic World’s growing vision of regional cooperation.
“The international system has failed”
Fidan pointed out that the current international system has lost its capacity to produce peace, justice, and stability. He underlined that in the face of this failure, the Turkic World is acting with a common sense of responsibility and a deepening spirit of regional ownership.
Call for solidarity with Turkish Cypriots
Highlighting the unjust and inhumane isolation imposed on Turkish Cypriots, Fidan called for unified action among OTS member states. He stressed that the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), accepted as an observer member at the Samarkand Summit, is now an integral part of the Turkic family.
Strong messages on Karabakh and Palestine
Addressing the Karabakh issue, Fidan reaffirmed that Turkey, alongside other OTS nations, will continue to stand firmly with Azerbaijan. Regarding Palestine, he condemned the use of starvation and forced displacement as weapons against civilians, calling them unacceptable. Fidan urged the international community to take decisive and effective measures against Israel to ensure regional peace and security.

On Syria and the Russia–Ukraine War: Diplomacy emphasized
Fidan also noted the concrete outcomes of Türkiye’s intensive diplomatic efforts to re-engage Syria with regional and international actors, including the easing of sanctions. On the Russia–Ukraine war, he stated that the parties are at a pivotal moment on the path to a diplomatic solution. Referring to the negotiations held in Istanbul, he expressed hope that they could lay the groundwork for a comprehensive ceasefire and a just, lasting peace.
“The Turkic World has a strong will”
Fidan concluded by underlining the shared determination among the summit participants to ensure the enduring unity of the Turkic World. He expressed hope that the outcomes of the Council Meeting and the Summit would further strengthen the integration of Turkic nations.
