FPV Drone Unit: U.S. Marine Corps Military Technology Boost
**In a significant advancement for military technology, the U.S. Marine Corps has established an FPV Drone unit to enhance its operational capabilities on modern battlefields. Announced on January 3, 2025, this development was spearheaded by Major General Anthony M. Henderson, the commander of the Training Command, and Brigadier General Simon M. Doran, the head of the Marine Corps Warfighting Laboratory. The newly formed Marine Corps Attack Drone Team (MCADT) has been tasked with various vital missions. One of its primary objectives is to swiftly incorporate FPV drone technology into the existing framework of the U.S. Marine Corps. Furthermore, the MCADT will focus on developing new training programs and tactics informed by recent experiences from modern combat scenarios.
Another key aspect of the MCADT’s role is to serve as the Marine Corps’ leading authority on FPV drone operations during military exercises. Its inaugural assignment will involve participation in a notable exercise in Greece in 2024. The team is also slated to represent the Marine Corps in both domestic and international competitions, showcasing their expertise and advanced capabilities.
The Marine Corps base in Quantico, Virginia, will host the MCADT, which will operate under the auspices of the Training Command. The MCADT’s first major international appearance will be at the “Military Drone Crucible Championship,” organized by the U.S. National Drone Association in Florida from June 30 to July 3, 2025.
