Taiwan’s Milestone Delivery of F-16 Block 70 Fighter Jet
**Taiwan has officially received its first F-16 C/D Block 70 (Viper) fighter jet from the United States.** The significant delivery took place during a ceremony held at Lockheed Martin’s production facility in Greenville, South Carolina. This momentous event was witnessed by Taiwan’s Deputy Minister of National Defense, Po Horng-huei, along with Alexander Yui, Taiwan’s representative to the U.S. The fighter jet delivered is a two-seater F-16D model, carrying tail number 6831, and marks the beginning of Taiwan receiving a total of 66 advanced F-16 Block 70 jets ordered under the Foreign Military Sales (FMS) program approved by President Trump’s administration in 2019.
Taiwan’s Ministry of National Defense has announced that all 66 aircraft are expected to be fully delivered by the end of 2026. Accompanying the release of images from the event, U.S. Congressman William Timmons emphasized, “We are proud to be the global home of the F-16 and to support Taiwan’s air defense capabilities.” The Block 70 variant enhances Taiwan’s air power with upgraded radar systems, advanced mission computers, and improved electronic warfare capabilities, along with a longer structural life.
