President Recep Tayyip Erdogan made significant remarks regarding Syria after today’s cabinet meeting, underscoring Turkey’s active role in shaping the country’s future and supporting the Syrian people.
“We are the nation that has best understood the new process in Syria,” Erdogan stated. “With the belief that a righteous wall cannot be toppled, we have always stood on the right side of history since the beginning of the Syrian crisis.” He added, “We have laid the foundation stones on the path to the Syrian people’s victory.”
Erdogan revealed that Turkey is maintaining close dialogue with Syrian revolutionary leader Ahmad al-Sharaa. He also noted that Turkish intelligence chief Ibrahim Kalin and Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan recently visited Syria and emphasized that such visits would continue to increase.
“We will provide every necessary support for the Syrian people, who have defeated an oppressive regime, to secure their victory and make their achievements permanent,” Erdogan declared. Referring to the fall of the 61-year Baath regime, he expressed confidence that Syrians will rebuild their country with unity and solidarity.
Erdogan also touched on the broader implications of stability in Syria, saying, “A stable Syria is a source of stability and security for the entire region. As Syria finds peace, everyone in the region will feel safer.”
Criticism of Israel’s Actions
Erdogan criticized Israel for its recent attacks on Syria, accusing it of attempting to overshadow the Syrian revolution and suppress the Syrian people’s aspirations. “Israel’s growing aggression aims to cloud the revolution and drown the Syrian people’s hopes,” he said. Erdogan expressed confidence that Israel would eventually withdraw from occupied territories, asserting, “More bloodshed only leads to greater insecurity and unrest.”
Zero Tolerance for Terrorism
The Turkish president reiterated Turkey’s firm stance on Syria’s territorial integrity and opposition to terrorist organizations. “Turkey’s unchanging principle is to preserve Syria’s territorial integrity and unitary structure under any circumstances,” he stressed.
“There is no place for any terrorist organization, including ISIS or the PKK, in Syria’s or our region’s future,” Erdogan said, vowing that the PKK and its affiliates “will either disband themselves or be dismantled.” He also reaffirmed Turkey’s commitment to conducting precise operations against terrorist elements in Syria while safeguarding civilian lives.
Erdogan expressed satisfaction with the new Syrian administration’s resolve against terrorism and emphasized Turkey’s determination to eliminate any threats to regional security.
