President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan addressed various international conflicts, including the situation in Gaza and the Russia-Ukraine war. Regarding Gaza, he stated, “At the point we have reached, Israel has not adopted a permanent ceasefire as of today.” He emphasized the need for humanitarian aid corridors.
On the Russia-Ukraine conflict, Erdoğan expressed hope for a lasting peace following a announced temporary ceasefire. “Our wish is to further develop and expand this ceasefire,” he said. “We hope that this temporary ceasefire will pave the way for a lasting peace.”
Regarding Turkey’s long-standing EU membership process, Erdoğan called on Italy for concrete support. “We expect Italy, which has consistently shown its support for our European Union membership process, to make concrete contributions in this direction,” he stated.
Finally, Erdoğan mentioned an upcoming meeting with US President Trump. “We will have a face-to-face meeting with Mr. Trump at the first opportunity,” he said, describing their recent phone conversation as “sincere, productive, and friendly.” He expressed belief in giving a “very different momentum” to bilateral relations.
