Ejder Yalçın Armored Vehicle Enhances Hungary’s Defense

**Hungary is upgrading its military capabilities with the addition of the Ejder Yalçın armored combat vehicle, manufactured by Nurol Makina. The delivery of the Ejder Yalçın 4×4 Tactical Wheeled Armored Vehicle was recently completed, marking a significant step in Hungary’s defense modernization efforts. This development was announced by Prof. Dr. Haluk Görgün, head of the Presidency of Defense Industries (SSB), via his official X account. He stated, “Today, the Gidran/Ejder Yalçın 4×4 Tactical Wheeled Armored Vehicle was delivered during a ceremony attended by Hungary’s Minister of Defense Kristóf Szalay-Bobrovniczky! This delivery reaffirms the strength of the Turkish defense industry on the international stage.”

The Ejder Yalçın armored vehicles will be produced locally in Hungary, following a recent agreement involving Nurol Makina, Nurol Makina Hungary, N7 National Defense Industry Innovation Holding, and Rába Automotive Holding. This partnership aims not only to manufacture and assemble Gidrán armored vehicles in Hungary but also to foster research and innovation for the Hungarian Defense Forces. The initiative is projected to create over 200 jobs, contributing to the local economy while enhancing military capabilities.

Hungary’s choice to procure the Ejder Yalçın armored vehicle aligns with its strategic goals to modernize its military, particularly by replacing outdated Soviet-era equipment with advanced Western systems. With this acquisition, Hungary becomes the sixth nation globally and the first within the European Union to adopt the Ejder Yalçın for its security forces. Notably, the vehicle was showcased during Hungary’s “National Defense Day” events, where defense forces highlighted their inventory and procurement efforts alongside other military vehicles.

The Ejder Yalçın made a significant appearance during the National Defense Day celebrations, participating in a vehicle convoy that toured Budapest, further demonstrating its capabilities as a vital component of Hungary’s internal security units. In total, Hungary has received 10 units of the Ejder Yalçın, which have also been displayed in other international contexts, including a recent event in Senegal.

This collaboration between Hungary and Turkey not only strengthens bilateral ties but also opens avenues for future technological partnerships. As the Turkish defense industry continues to grow, with over 4,500 land vehicles exported to more than 40 countries, this deal highlights the innovative solutions and strong export vision driving the sector forward. Prof. Dr. Görgün expressed optimism that this delivery will bolster cooperation between Turkey and Hungary, enhancing defense capabilities for both nations.
