The head of Türkiye’s National Intelligence Organization (MİT), İbrahim Kalın, held a meeting with a Hamas delegation led by Muhammad Darwish, Chairman of the Hamas Shura Council, to discuss efforts to deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza.

According to security sources, the meeting focused on ways to overcome the Israeli blockade and ensure the delivery of urgent humanitarian assistance to the region, which is facing a severe humanitarian crisis. Discussions also covered coordination of international efforts to achieve a comprehensive and lasting ceasefire, and to halt Israel’s military actions in Gaza, described as acts of genocide.

During the talks, both sides emphasized their opposition to Israel’s expansionist and occupation policies and reaffirmed their stance against any new attempts at territorial annexation or forced displacement of the Palestinian population.

The MİT chief reiterated Türkiye’s unwavering support for the people of Gaza, praising their resilience and determination to protect their land despite severe hardships, including Israeli attacks targeting civilians and the use of starvation tactics aimed at forcibly displacing the population.

Türkiye’s commitment to supporting all international initiatives aimed at securing a permanent ceasefire was also underlined during the meeting.

Statement from Hamas

In a written statement, Hamas confirmed that the delegation, headed by Muhammad Darwish, met with İbrahim Kalın.

The statement noted that the meeting addressed the ongoing Israeli assaults on Gaza, the deliberate starvation of civilians, the blockade of food and water supplies, and the widespread destruction of homes, buildings, and infrastructure, as well as Israel’s attempts to expel Palestinians from their land.

The Hamas delegation expressed readiness for a comprehensive prisoner exchange agreement, contingent upon Israel halting its attacks, withdrawing from Gaza, lifting the blockade, and implementing Egypt’s proposal to establish an independent administrative committee composed of national and technocratic figures to govern Gaza.

Additionally, the discussions touched on Israeli violations in occupied East Jerusalem, particularly at Al-Aqsa Mosque, as well as systematic displacement policies targeting Palestinian refugee camps in the West Bank.
