Showcasing the ALTUĞ 8×8 Armored Combat Vehicle

The ALTUĞ 8×8 Armored Combat Vehicle (ACV), developed by BMC, made its debut at the IDEF 2021 defense and aerospace fair. Notably, this vehicle is adaptable, capable of being equipped with a variety of weapon systems, including ASELSAN’s advanced 35 mm KORHAN weapon turret. The KORHAN system, designed for both land combat and air defense, utilizes 35 mm armament and is crafted with domestic technological capabilities to address the evolving needs of the Turkish Armed Forces.

BMC plans to manufacture the ALTUĞ 8×8 vehicles at its expansive production facility in Ankara, which spans over 1 million square meters. With deliveries set to begin in 2027, there is significant optimism that the ALTUĞ 8×8 will not only meet the needs of the Turkish military but will also appeal to allied nations, generating substantial export revenue for Turkey.

Design and Development of the ALTUĞ 8×8

The inception of the ALTUĞ 8×8 project began in 2018, focusing on conceptual designs tailored to the operational requirements of the Turkish Armed Forces. This armored combat vehicle is distinguished by its high protection levels, exceptional maneuverability, and versatile operational capabilities. Constructed using domestic resources, the ALTUĞ 8×8 has successfully passed rigorous mobility, ballistic, mine, and IED testing in Turkey, as well as in challenging environments in the United Arab Emirates and Qatar.

Designed to address the diverse needs of both conventional and asymmetric warfare, the ALTUĞ 8×8 stands out with its advanced features and performance. The vehicle integrates the latest user requirements, mission strategies, and technological trends in defense, ensuring it competes effectively with both domestic and international vehicles in its category.

Commitment to Domestic Production

A key aspect of the ALTUĞ 8×8 project is BMC’s commitment to achieving a high local production rate. All vehicles will utilize domestically produced armor steel and axle components, promoting national industry and reducing reliance on foreign suppliers. This focus on local sourcing not only strengthens Turkey’s defense industry but also aligns with broader national goals for self-sufficiency in military capabilities.

The ALTUĞ 8×8’s configurations and specifications have been meticulously developed to ensure that they meet the rigorous demands of modern combat. By leveraging advanced technologies and local resources, BMC is poised to deliver a vehicle that not only meets the Turkish Armed Forces’ needs but also sets a new standard in the armored vehicle market.
