Turkey’s defense industry is set to enhance its naval combat capabilities by integrating artificial intelligence into ADVENT, the country’s next-generation Network Enabled Data Integrated Combat Management System. The upgrade promises to provide the Turkish Navy with advanced decision-making support and improved operational efficiency in complex maritime operations.
Developed jointly by HAVELSAN and the Turkish Naval Forces Research Center Command, ADVENT is recognized as one of the most advanced combat management systems in the world. Designed to meet the demands of modern naval warfare, ADVENT enables seamless cooperation among joint and multinational task forces, supporting real-time decision-making, command, and control. The system is currently in active use in nine countries, further solidifying HAVELSAN’s reputation as a trusted global defense technology provider.
MAIN: The AI Brain Behind ADVENT’s Next Leap
HAVELSAN’s artificial intelligence efforts center on MAIN (Modular Artificial Intelligence Network), a proprietary enterprise AI platform designed for both secure, closed-network environments and internet-based operations. MAIN features unique language architecture, role-based access control, and a user-friendly interface, offering data privacy, operational security, and cost efficiency for institutional applications.
Now, HAVELSAN is working to integrate MAIN into ADVENT as a Maintenance Support Assistant. In this role, the AI will guide operators through maintenance procedures, locate and present maintenance instructions, and provide system-wide Q&A capabilities via natural language interaction. The goal is to make maintenance operations faster, safer, and fully verifiable.
Phase-1 of the integration has already been completed in a laboratory setting, with Phase-2 now underway. The next stage will expand MAIN’s role beyond maintenance to contribute directly to operational workflows—supporting mission planning, recommending tactical options, and assisting in decision-making processes.
