ANKA UAV Test Fires L-UMTAS Missile with Precision

**The ANKA unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), engineered by Turkish Aerospace Industries, has successfully executed a test firing of the L-UMTAS anti-tank missile, showcasing its capabilities.** This significant milestone was shared through a post on the official X account of TUSAS, highlighting the precision and effectiveness of the missile during the test.

In the announcement, TUSAS emphasized the achievement, stating, “ANKA hit the target with complete accuracy from 15,000 feet! The L-UMTAS missile, which stands for Laser Guided Long Range Anti-Tank Missile System, is designed primarily for use from assault helicopters. Its sophisticated laser guidance system, combined with an armor-piercing tandem warhead, enables it to effectively engage both stationary and moving targets.

One of the key features of the L-UMTAS is its ability to lock onto a target either prior to or after the missile has been launched. This flexibility allows for greater operational versatility, making the missile a formidable weapon against main battle tanks, concrete fortifications, and various types of vehicles.

With a range of 8 kilometers and weighing 37.5 kilograms, the L-UMTAS missile measures 1.8 meters in length. It employs a semi-active laser seeker head for guidance, ensuring high accuracy in targeting. This missile system represents a significant advancement in Turkey’s defense technology.

In addition to the L-UMTAS, ROKETSAN is also developing a new missile system known as the L-OMTAS, further expanding its arsenal of precision-guided munitions. This ongoing innovation underscores Turkey’s commitment to enhancing its military capabilities and asserting its presence on the international stage.
