Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan attended the special session on “The Situation in Palestine and Lebanon” during the 11th Developing Eight (D-8) Summit in Cairo.
Erdogan highlighted the worsening crisis in Gaza since Israel’s attacks began 440 days ago, resulting in over 50,000 deaths—mostly women and children—and more than 100,000 injuries. He criticized Israel’s policies in Jerusalem and Lebanon, calling them part of broader regional destabilization efforts.
“Israel must face international isolation,” Erdogan said, advocating for arms embargoes, halting trade, and coordinated global pressure. He also urged D-8 nations to support legal action against Israel at the International Court of Justice.
Erdogan emphasized the importance of achieving a ceasefire in Gaza, supporting ongoing negotiations led by Qatar and Egypt, and reigniting efforts for a two-state solution. He called for solidarity among regional nations to ensure stability in Palestine, Lebanon, and Syria, and expressed hope for lasting peace in the region.
Lebanese PM Najib Mikati and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas also addressed the session.
