Common Armored Vehicle System: Denmark Joins CAVS Program
**Denmark has officially joined the multinational Common Armored Vehicle System (CAVS) program, making it the fifth nation to participate in this European defense initiative alongside Finland, Latvia, Sweden, and Germany.** This collaboration aims to develop and deploy a 6×6 armored vehicle platform that will enhance mobility, protection, and interoperability among European defense forces.
The 6×6 vehicle system is being developed by Patria, a Finnish defense company renowned for over 40 years in personnel transport and integrated system support. Mats Warstedt, Senior Vice President of Patria Nordic Market Area, welcomed Denmark’s involvement, emphasizing the necessity for multinational cooperation in light of a fluctuating European security landscape. He stated, “The evolving security environment has created a significant need for initiatives that enhance interoperability and supply security among allied nations.”
Program Efficiency and Local Industrial Capacities
Warstedt further highlighted the effectiveness of the CAVS program by noting, “Supported by the EU’s Common Procurement Law (EDIRPA), this initiative stands out as an exemplary model for quickly and cost-effectively establishing common defense capabilities across member states.” He stressed that a crucial aspect of the vehicle supply chain relies on the local industrial capacities of participating countries.
Each new participant in the CAVS program not only fortifies collective supply security but also brings added industrial flexibility to the alliance. Patria has reported over 850 orders for its 6×6 armored vehicles, with more than 200 already delivered, indicating strong demand and production capacity.
