ASELSAN Achieves Milestone with GÖKTAN Project

The GÖKTAN Project by ASELSAN has marked a significant milestone with the successful completion of its shooting test. This pivotal test, conducted on February 18, demonstrated the GÖKTAN System’s capability to deliver ground-to-ground strike precision through the TOLUN ammunition, launched from airborne platforms. The successful strike on the designated target not only showcases ASELSAN’s commitment to innovation but also enhances its extensive portfolio of advanced defense technologies.

The completion of this shooting test confirms that the GÖKTAN System is equipped to revolutionize ground-to-ground offensive operations. The integration of a rocket motor with the TOLUN ammunition has been a critical advancement, as it allows for precise command and control, firing control systems, and mission planning.

Innovative Features of GÖKTAN System

In addition to its striking capabilities, the GÖKTAN System boasts central and independent operational functions, enabling it to engage targets effectively without necessitating platform movement. This 360-degree firing capability allows for inclined launches and supports multi-engagement and sequential firing operations.

The ground-launched variant of GÖKTAN is positioned as a counterpart to the GLSDB (Ground Launched Small Diameter Bomb), which was developed collaboratively by the USA and Sweden. While GLSDB utilizes the M26 artillery rocket to launch a GBU-39 miniature bomb, the TOLUN’s ground-launched version is expected to integrate a hybrid rocket motor, enhancing its operational range significantly.

Future Potential of GÖKTAN

Looking ahead, the potential integration of TOLUN’s imaging infrared (IIR) technology could transform it into a cost-effective hybrid mini cruise missile for the Turkish Armed Forces. This development would not only bolster operational flexibility but also provide a competitive edge in modern warfare.

ASELSAN’s GÖKTAN Project, developed in partnership with Delta V, is designed to autonomously neutralize critical targets without reliance on existing platforms. This innovative approach signifies a leap forward in defense technology, promising enhanced capabilities for ground forces.
