ASELFLIR-500: Export Success in the Defense Industry
**Haluk Görgün, President of the Defense Industry, recently held a press conference at the Presidency of Defense Industries to shed light on the remarkable export achievements of the ASELFLIR-500. During the event, he presented impressive export figures for 2024 and shared ambitious targets for 2025. The ASELFLIR-500, a cutting-edge electro-optical reconnaissance, surveillance, and targeting system, has been developed for various applications, including unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), helicopters, and both fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft.**
Görgün took pride in announcing that the ASELFLIR-500 was not only developed within a year but also that export contracts were secured promptly after its completion. He remarked, “The ASELFLIR-500, which began development and production in 2024, was supplied to 16 countries in the same year. This is not something commonly seen.” This swift achievement exemplifies ASELSAN’s commitment to innovation and its growing presence in the global defense market.
The ASELFLIR-500 stands out due to its advanced features, designed to enhance operational capabilities in reconnaissance and targeting missions. It integrates a variety of sophisticated technologies, including a 3-5 micron high-resolution infrared camera, a high-resolution daylight camera, and a high-resolution SWIR camera, alongside essential components like a laser targeting unit and laser range measuring unit. This comprehensive suite of tools enables users to conduct effective surveillance and precise targeting, reinforcing the system’s appeal.
Some of the key specifications of the ASELFLIR-500 include a common optical aperture with a 220 mm diameter entrance mirror, a single ‘In-Line Changeable Unit,’ and true full high-definition video capabilities. These features not only enhance the system’s performance but also ensure that it meets the rigorous demands of modern defense operations.
In addition to the impressive export figures, ASELSAN has announced a new export deal with a Middle Eastern country, further solidifying its reputation in the defense sector. This latest agreement is expected to bolster ASELSAN’s market presence and contribute to the ongoing success of the ASELFLIR-500, as well as the company’s broader strategic objectives.
